Who is a carer?
If you provide care and support to a disabled person so they can live their everyday lives, then we consider you their carer.
You might be the disabled person’s mum, dad, brother, or sister. You may be a member of their family or whānau, or a friend.
You may consider the support you provide to be a natural part of what you do for the people you love and care for.
If you live in the same household and provide more than four hours a day unpaid care to a disabled person, you may be considered a “Full Time Carer” and be eligible for Carer Support.
