Kia ora koutou. I'm Chris Bunny. I'm leading the work to stabilise Disability Support Services.
I’ve been travelling around the country talking with the disabled community during our consultation on disability support services.
We are now more than halfway through this important mahi.
People have generously shared their experiences and ideas. The team and I are hugely grateful for this.
Consultation closes soon – on Monday 24 March – and I encourage more of you to have your say.
You can still sign up for one of our in person workshops in Invercargill, Christchurch, Dunedin, Nelson or Napier.
You can also do an online survey, make a submission, or run your own workshop.
If you don’t want to write down your thoughts, you can make a short video, like this one, on your phone or email us a voice memo. It all counts.
Find out how to participate on our website: disabilitysupport.govt.nz external.
I also want to share with you that we are doing more targeted consultation with providers on proposed changes to how we fund residential care.
Our highest priorities with this work are to:
- not disrupt support for people already in care, and to provide quality, and
- safe care for everybody in residential care – now and into the future.
You can find out more about this on our website.
A big thank you to everyone who has supported our consultation.
Please keep the feedback coming.
Mā te wā, bye for now.
